In operation this detector is more similar to a Geiger tube than a typical photo diode so most simple Geiger counting circuit ideas work great with it. Sensitivity drops off quick in the shorter blue to UV due to the intrinsic layer of the diode that enables safe avalanche discharge.
This is one from my personal stash for a project that it turned out a shorter wave length detector was better suited for, so here you go. It responds well to Ir for 1064 to about 457nm in the blue. This item is very hard to find.
